This spunky and ever so talented teen is one of the youngest fashion designer in the world. At 8 years old Taylor began taking sewing classes that allowed the Austin, TX native to merge her strong interest in both fashion and artistry. Today at age14, Taylor is so advanced for her age that she has started college studying Fine Arts and is a member of Mensa, a high IQ society.
Growing up, her favorite designers included Karl Lagerfeld and Diane Von Furstenburg. She fell under the mentorship of Charlotte Ronson, who is one of the most sought after fashion designers. Taylor also got a little help from Liza Deyrmenjian who runs a NY based Fashion Business Coaching Firm. It is there at age 9 Taylor learned about sourcing fabrics, buying whole sale and finding models.
The biggest achievements from Taylor came recently. In 2013 she was able to showcase her pieces at NY Fashion Week and just this past September she was picked up by Nordstrom to feature 13 looks from her collection. According to Taylor, the keys to her success have been “blood, sweat and glitter.”
“Blood because it takes a lot of passion and sacrifice. Sweat because of the time and hard work. Lastly Glitter because of the imagination and creativity. There must be a dream behind your business.” Certainly Taylor has done just that and I look forward to seeing how she will continue to grow throughout the years.
